As part of Sturt Domestic League evolving into the SAJBL (South Australia Junior Basketball League), they are no longer forming and managing individual teams. Instead, the league now welcomes academies, clubs, schools, and independent social teams to join. This change has been made to enhance and grow the competition for the benefit of all players.
Because of this, the Pink Devils needed a new home - one that could provide more support and create more opportunities, especially for female athletes. Building a female-focused academy was something Tamara and Paula (Daredevils Founders) had been planning for a long time, so the timing made sense for everyone. The Daredevils Academy builds on the strong foundations of the Pink Devils while opening up exciting new possibilities.

Yes, wherever possible we’ll keep players together with their existing friends and teams. Continuity is important to us, and we’ll do everything we can to ensure smooth transitions into the Academy.
If your child would prefer a change, we will look at moving players into a different team. This will of course depend on the number of teams we have and space availability, but we’ll do our best to accommodate these requests.
-
The Academy is led by Tamara and Paula.
Tam brings extensive coaching experience from Sturt and state-level programs, with a strong vision for player development and a passion for supporting female athletes. She will also shape the Daredevils style of play.
Paula ensures smooth operations and strong support for athletes and families. She is a champion for female inclusion, both in sport and in professional pathways.
Together, they’re supported by a broader coaching team, with potential involvement from NBL1 players and a clear commitment to female development.

No - we are committed to maintaining girls-only competition options, so there is no requirement for girls to play against boys.
For those who would like the opportunity to play in mixed competition, this is something we can also look to offer, provided there are enough players interested in doing the same.
-
Our focus right now is on female athletes, but we plan to expand to include boys’ teams in the future. This will also make things more convenient for families with both boys and girls who want to play.
-
Sessions will build on what players have already experienced with Sturt, with an even stronger focus on female development and pathways. Families can expect a mix of skill development, team concepts, and most importantly - fun!
-
For the first season, players will continue wearing the same uniforms they already have. New players to the club will be provided with bibs until the new uniforms become available.
We do plan to rebrand uniforms in the immediate future, and we’ll share updates with families once the new designs are ready.
-
Our new website and email communication system will be launching soon. Families will receive regular updates via email so no one misses out on important information.

The cost to play with the Daredevils Academy is $420 per season. This includes 15 games each season, a dedicated coach per team, and a weekly academy-level training session.
In addition, there is a mandatory fee that all players must pay directly to Basketball Australia to cover insurance. This is approximately $34.47 per year.
If you choose to continue on with the Daredevils, your season fees are paid directly to the Daredevils Academy (not the domestic league anymore). You will be sent an invoice from the Academy closer to the start of the season.
-
Once players are confirmed, we’ll finalise teams and take care of registering everyone for the SAJBL season. Families do not need to register separately on the SAJBL website - this is one of the benefits of being part of an Academy.
Your Academy fees covers your seasonal competition registration costs and also includes your weekly training.
